==========
Have I mentioned that the night previous to this we were at the birth of a baby? That’s right, folks. At our motel, in the middle of the night, paramedics showed up in the parking lot and Jess walked out to witness a woman giving birth to a baby. It seemed almost as if we were at the birth of a new son of god…a hotel on the outskirts of town, that many people live in for weeks at a time, quietly (or not so quietly) on the edge of Nashville a new baby was born.
And we were there.
The van did not get fixed. We currently await James and John returning from the car rental with a 15 passenger van and are all adjusting to a new reality of this tour getting even more cozy, close, and intimate.
At this point we are so tired, that instead of hoping for a hot, post-show hook-up on the road, we are just hoping someone will take us home, let us pet their cat and watch a romantic comedy, and make us some chamomile tea. Well, that was my fantasy yesterday at least… I’d like to propose a breakfast toast to this day: “To mechanical & energetic shifts with our travel logistics and to continued bright spirits on these long, hot days.”
We were reflecting over brunch yesterday that every night we continue to play amazing shows and it reminds us of why the non-air conditioned van and short nights of sleep are worth it. John poetically summed it up when he said, “Its funny how every night the music saves us.”
