Dream: God and the Devil

I went to bed, finally, last night at 4:45AM... totally wound up from recording demos of some of these new songs. But then I got woken up at 7AM by a dream.

I was dreaming about a song -- it was weird. I was simultaneously listening to it but I was also writing and thinking about it at the same time. Kind of like lucid dream songwriting.

So I got up out of bed, walked into the other room, grabbed a guitar and played/sungthe lyric into my tape recorder. It's a strange one...

It's about God and the Devil.
And how they fell in love with the same Girl.
(the earth... the world)
And that's why they started hating each other.
Because they constantly fought to win her love.
Then God and the World had a perfect-but-illegitimate child (Jesus).
But the Devil pulled God into court, saying, the kid was his.
Because, you know, he'd had relations with the World too.
And besides, it killed him to see God and the World as a happy little family.
So the Devil and God had a custody battle over Jesus... and by extension, the World.

Then I went back to bed.

I told you it was weird.

...

Now that I think of it... This might be a whole record.
